Getting to work!

Image
With our training finally complete, it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get to work! This was our first full week on our own. We are excited to get started  Before diving into our busy workweek, we start with a day of play. Every Monday is our Preparation Day (P-Day)—a time to take care of errands like shopping & laundry, but also to enjoy time with our junior missionaries. Here in Sarajevo, we have three American fast food options: Kentucky Fried Chicken, Burger King, and Taco Bell. We let our missionaries choose, and they opted for Taco Bell, so we ended up with a bag of tacos & burritos! After lunch, we learned a new card game called The Secret Hiller, which is similar to Mafia. So much fun!  Our Sarajevo District is made up of two senior couples—us and the Smiths—along with a set of Elders and a set of Sisters.  This week, our district is growing as we welcome two more Elders! After three weeks of travel, we hadn’t had the chance to explore Old Town. So, we...

Frankfurt Training

We had an amazing week in Frankfurt, getting additional training for our new role as Humanitarian Missionaries.  The church headquarters in Europe is in beautiful Frankfurt Germany. They own three floors of an office building that include a beautiful gym and cafeteria. There’s so much to learn—how to complete expense reports, identify the right projects to focus on, and navigate the new self-reliance services being introduced in the humanitarian department. They had great training… And it helped that they had A table full of food with frequent breaks 😃 This is our support staff who work out of Frankfurt. It’s a well oiled machine to help us do our job correct correctly. Charles is such a good sport—he’ll take photos with me with just a little bit of prodding The church put us up in a really nice hotel in an adorable town called Bad Homburg.  One evening we were given a guided tour through old town,  beautiful Frankfurt. They had huge walking street that had hundred of th...

My team won  ‘Missionary Feud ‘ (family feud)    The Bosnia Bunch. My 5’9 looks tiny next  to the 7 foot Elder McConkey  We had visitors zoom in from Milan Italy to teach us new ways of finding. They are having great success  President Cordray is so amazing. He gave an amazing uplifting...
