Senior Missionary Conference in Pula

We’re beginning to see the end of our mission, with only a few months left, and neither of us can believe how quickly the time has flown by. It’s hard to think we’re now starting to attend our “last” events. The first of these was our Senior Conference, which was held in the beautiful city of Pula.

Missions are such an incredible experience! I highly recommend them to anyone considering serving. What makes our mission even more amazing is the opportunity to serve alongside so many wonderful people. Most missions don’t have this many senior missionaries, so we feel especially blessed to be surrounded by so many faithful, talented fun individuals serving here with us. We love each and every one of them!.

Charles and I were on the committee to help plan it with these fun talented couples.

I served as the conference photographer and had the chance to take pictures of each couple.
Since Pula sits right on the sea, it provided a beautiful backdrop for the photos.

Because Charles and I served our last mission in Rijeka, not far from Pula, we were able to step in as tour guides as well. We organized a few different outings to both Rovinj and Pula.
Our first tour was to Rovinj, a charming coastal town just across the sea from Venice, Italy.
It has a similar feel and charm, and it’s easily one of our favorite places in Croatia.

I also knew where to find some of the cutest “Instagram-worthy” photo spots, so I took several pictures for our friends. Here are a few samples of us enjoying those fun spots in Rovinj.

The next day, after our workshops, we took a large group to tour Pula. Pula is best known for its remarkably well-preserved Roman landmarks, especially the Pula Arena, one of the largest Roman amphitheaters still standing today.

We took a walk around the old city and showed them the Temple of Augustus and the Arch of the Sergii. Both were built during Christ's lifetime. It is so amazing to see something that old and still standing today.

The Pula Fortress, perched on a hill in the center of the city. From the top,  you have stunning panoramic views of the harbor and red-roofed town below.

Our mission loves to send love with these hearts! So much love!

On Friday, we took another group to Rovinj. Unfortunately, the weather turned wet and cold, but that didn't stop us from having fun exploring!

These are our amazing mission leaders, the Cordray's. They are just a few months away from completing their service. They have been such a blessing to the Adriatic North Mission. What they have built here is something truly special you can feel it. All of the missionaries feel safe, loved, and seen, which is a rare and beautiful gift. Their influence has made a profound difference, and it is reflected in the work being done today. It has been a tremendous blessing to be here at this time and to serve alongside them.

After the conference, we went to visit the beautiful city of Rijeka. We served our first mission in Rijeka. We love this city and the people there. Rijeka means river.

We had the opportunity to attend a birthday party on Saturday evening. Charles and I also spoke in Sacrament Meeting, and afterward we were invited to lunch with the senior missionaries currently serving in Rijeka, the Dabo family. It was a wonderful weekend! The next blog will show you what made the weekend especially extra special.

What you have created here is something really special. You can feel it. The missionaries feel safe, loved and seen and that is such a gift. The morale in this mission has done a complete 180. And it shows in the work that’s being done here today.
